On and off the track

A nephew of Emerson, Christian Fittipaldi raced in F1 from 1992 to 1994 with Minardi and Footwork, and starred in one of the sport's most unbelievable scenes: at Monza in 1993 he clipped teammate Pierluigi Martini's wheel and crossed the finish line mid backflip, still classified eighth. He then built a long career in the United States, racing in CART and NASCAR before finding a home in sports cars. He won the Rolex 24 at Daytona three times (2004, 2014 and 2018) and took back to back IMSA titles in 2014 and 2015 with Action Express, the team where he became sporting director, retiring from driving after the 2019 Daytona race.
