David Brabham, son of three time champion Jack Brabham, made his F1 debut in 1990 with the team bearing the family name and returned in 1994 with the underfunded Simtek squad, a season scarred by the death of teammate Roland Ratzenberger at Imola; his leadership was key to the team carrying on through the year in the Austrian's memory. In endurance racing he built a winning career, taking the 1996 Japanese GT title in a McLaren F1 GTR, winning the 2009 24 Hours of Le Mans outright in a Peugeot 908 alongside Marc Gene and Alexander Wurz, and claiming American Le Mans Series titles in 2009 and 2010.
